Ryan has been teaching and performing in the Portland and Beaverton area for over 10 years. Using a mix of Suzuki and traditional teaching methods, he teaches 30, 45, and 60 minute private lessons to students who range from the beginner to advanced  levels. His students are musicians in the various ensembles of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and Portland Youth Philharmonic and have competed and won awards in competitions such as the Oregon American String Teachers Association and Oregon Music Teacher Association.

Ryan believes that a strong foundation built in the beginning stages of learning to play any instrument is very important. Along with the Suzuki method, ear training and scales are used to build this foundation so that each student will have
the fundamentals needed to succeed.
